ARTIST’ RALLY FOR CULTURE

Movement of artists aiming at the growth of collective action for the
problems in the culture, the causes and their confrontation
‘Artist’s rally aiming to the development of collateral action for problems of culture and the artist’s, their causes and the ways to face them’
Our movement, the «Artist’s Rally for Culture», has had its first conference in June the 11th 2008. It was held in the “Jenny Karezy” theatre in Athens and had been organized by an initiative committee, which was aiming to shape rally of artists and workers of the culture industry, whose goal will be to act against the reasons of the present cultural misery.
The call of the initiative has been answered by a large number of artists and workers of the culture industry. 300 among them were present at the June 11th conference. The common notion during the discussion was that ‘enough is enough’. The reality we live in demands that a movement is shaped, which will demand decent working conditions for all artists, will fight for an art connected with the real social needs and will seek to materialize the terms and conditions of a new cultural and intellectual rise.
